Ombre Hair Transformation: Part 4 - the Results!

It's finally done! I can say I have a modification on ombre hair! It's not total ombre as I've only done it on the lower layer of my hair but I am definitely pleased with the results!

I was in the salon for total 3 hours; that included the application, the setting time, washing, blow drying and flat ironing. The stylist used bleach as we came to the conclusion that the colour just wouldn't hold otherwise on my hair.

The application took around 30 minutes and then we let it set for at least an hour- I wanted blonde - not a lighter brown so we needed to let the bleach do its work! It is slightly ginger - but nothing I can't handle ;)

Even though we both got it wrong the first time, the stylist was extremely welcoming and warm and we had a very good chat! He looked after me very well and that's all part of the experience I suppose! I would definitely go back to the salon despite the mishap to begin with!

So here are the pictures! I LOVE my hair!

Haha funny flash/ funny smile! Straight

Ombre Hair Transformation Part 3; After the Salon

I'm dissapointed to say the least!! I just don't think the hairdresser understood what I meant when I said I want it natural looking. Yes, what he's done looks really natural - but it's not the colour I was after :(

Here are the pictures anyway,

thou shalt smile regardless :)

You can probably almost see bits of really dark blonde going through but it doesn't look much different does it?  The guy was lovely and it was probably more my fault than his but what he did was highlight the lowest layer in my hair with the colour and it would be fine...if the colour was blonder. I took these images for inspiration;

And let's be honest - it looks nothing like it. I do accept the majority of the responsibility as I did tell him I didn't want to go too blonde, however I honestly don't see much blonde at all!

So unfortunately this is going to be a four-part blog mini series! I'm going back on Tuesday so he can rectify the situation!

Wish me luck!

I've booked it! Today I shall get ombre hair! My appointment is at 10.15 so I have no time to chicken out!

I am pleased I made the decision to let a professional do it (I was considering a DIY out-of-the-packet job, but I know I wouldn't get the finish I want. There are tonnes of tutorials on various blogs and on YouTube but I would never do them justice so salon it is! I've been told it's going to cost around £45.00 so we'll see!

Here are my before pictures; stay tuned!

Ombre Hair Transformation; Part 1

Ombre hair has become massive in the last few months with celebrities such as Jessica Biel, Camilla Alves. Lauren Conrad and even our own  Katrina Hodgson and Karena Dawn sporting the trend. I've been umm-ing and ahh-ing for a few months myself now and I've decided to make the change! In a nutshell, ombre hair is a graduation effect from your roots down to your tips. It can be as subtle as a light brown to a dark blonde or radical such as blonde through to turquoise

I'm usually very safe when it comes to my hair and I rarely make any changes, I mean I've only ever gone from a medium brown to a darker brown; I've never had any highlights or anything. I first saw Ombre hair on Shenae Grimes as Annie on season 3 of 90210. I loved it and had pictures saved on my laptop for months! I was never brave enough though to have such a dramatic change and haven't!

Shenae Grimes - black to blonde
This is going to be a mini-series blog set so stay tuned for my progress!! The next step is a trip to the salon this afternoon to see what they can do! For now here are some of my ombre inspiration pictures :) (coming with me on the iPad!).
Are you like me and are slightly shy with your hair? Or are you forever experimenting with new styles. Would you try ombre hair?
Jessica Biel - this is my kind of length
SJP - I love the colours on this one
Hilary Duff- this shows the colour graduation really well
