Summer Travel Series: Snacking on the Go

It's no secret that keeping up with nutrition on travel days, no matter your mode of transport, can be difficult. Whether it's greasy airport food or whatever is served on the snack cart on the train, keeping it lean, clean and green can be a struggle!

This week I've put together some tips to help you fight back! As always, preparation and planning is key. In the video below, I've shared some simple, cheap and effective travel snacking ideas!

Until next week!

All my love,
Georgie :)

Hey guys! Happy Friday!

Today I'm sharing something that I've found has really helped me this week and I urge you to try!

On Monday I started writing down what each and every one of my meals was! I downloaded a fancy app for my iPad, (ScrapPad - I can really recommend it!) and started creating little collages each day of what I'm eating; Meals 1 to 5. I also track workouts, water consumption and any goals for the next day!

I've found it's really helped me because I've become more conscious of what I'm eating and I've found I'm more likely to stay on track!

This Tuesday's Post :) (Although this was on another app called NoteLedgeLite)

The Tone It Up girls always talk about the importance of journaling and until this week I had never really paid too much attention - I didn't really think that it could make much of a difference but I really do feel more dedicated to eating clean as I know that can be one of my biggest downfalls.

As of today, I'm also going to start posting/journalling in the Tone It Up Community.  The TIU community is definitely a safe place to do something like this because it's just like Facebook but you don't have to worry about annoying all of your friends with your incessant fitness related updates hehe!

All of this is similar to one of K & K's sayings I guess! - "If you don't want to tweet it - don't eat it!" It's so true! For me, being accountable to somebody really helps me to stay on track and this week I've found that food journalling is just another way to do that!

(I'm pretty sure journalling isn't a word hehe!)

If you'd like to keep updated (and keep me on track!) with my nutrition, follow me on Instagram (georgieedwards27) or add me in the community (link above) and let's do this together!!

Feel free to tweet me your daily journals! I'll retweet them! Although don't be annoyed if I steal some meal ideas hehe!

Love and Hugs!

PS: Working on a new layout for the blog today! Determined to get it done!

Tastes So Good Tuesday: Happy Pancake Day!!

Hey guys! First off, I'm sorry that last Tuesday's feature never happened, I had a really crappy day at Uni and honestly, it just slipped my mind - I'm only human! Not to worry because I'm back at it in full force today!

Today's post is a follow up to one of this blog's most-read-ever posts!

Today in the UK, it is National Pancake Day!!

That's right - this blog post is ALLLLL about pancakes! In a similar fashion to last years Pancake-day fiesta, I'm going to share some of my NEW faaave pancake toppings with you all :) And yes - THEYRE HEALTHY PANCAKES

My Berry Brilliance Pancake Day Morning Pancake
Blueberries mixed into the batter, raspberries and strawberries on top

My basic recipe for all pancakes is the same and as follows;

1 scoop Perfect Fit Protein Powder (Can be substituted for any Protein or 1/4 Cup flour)
1.5 tbsp of Ground Flaxseed
5-6 tbsp egg whites
Splash of Almond Milk (or any kind of fat-free milk)
Dash of Cinnamon (or loads if you're me hehe)

You mix all of these ingredients together, pour into a hot pan and cook as you would any normal pancake (2 mins-ish on each side)

Now for the good stuff! (Although I apologise in advance for my really really bad names of the recipes haha)

My favourittttte toppings from the year (I know I eat a lot of pancakes haha - I'm always experimenting!)

Unless otherwise stated, just add your ingredients on top of the pancake you've made!

Apple and Cinnamon Extravaganza!
-- Up the Cinnamon content in your base recipe
-- Add two tablespoons of Unsweetened Applesauce into your base recipe
-- Spread 1 tbsp of Unsweetened Applesauce on top of your finished pancake
-- Finish with a sprinkle of cinnamon and stevia

Citrus Crusher
-- Add the juice of a 1/2 lime, juice of 1/2 lemon and 2 tbsps of freshly squeezed OJ in your base mix
-- Once cooked, top with fresh orange segments

Pineapple Passion
-- Add 2 tbsp of all natural pineapple juice into your base mix
-- Top your pancake with chunks of fresh pineapple, stevia and coconut shavings!

Chocolate Cherry Creation
(Lame name - I know!!)
-- Chop up some cherries (de-stone obviously!), fold them in to your pancake mix before cooking
-- Substitute your almond milk in the base recipe for chocolate almond milk
-- Add 1/2 tsp of cherry extract if you like too!
-- Melt some dark chocolate and allow to cool slightly before drizzling over your pancake!

Berry Brilliance
Pictured at the very top of the blog!

-- Add a handful of blueberries into your pancake mix
-- Top with Chopped strawberries and Raspberries
-- Why not try one of the syrups from last years blog too?

Red Velvet Chocolate Cake Valentines Pancake
Say whaaaaat? I KNOW!
-- Add red food colouring and 1tbsp of unsweetened cocoa powder to your mixture
-- Substitue the almond milk for chocolate almond milk
-- Whip up some cream cheese frosting for your topper!
-- And some melted dark chocolate if you're like me! ;)

That's it!! Shall we turn this into an annual event? I think so ;)

This has possibly been my best Tastes So Good Tuesday yet!! I still want you to send me your recipes! I can't wait to feature them (full credit given of course!)

Happy Pancake Day :)

Sizzlin' Sprouts Recipe!

All credit for this recipe goes to my mum!!

If you're a Tone It Up girl then you'll know that we love sprouts!! I however (admittedly) am an exception to that club!! I'm not the biggest Brussel Sprout fan in the world - put it that way!!

That being said, we rarely have them in this house but when we do, Mum cooks up this recipe and it it basically the only way she can get me to eat them!! I did originally mean to post this as part of the Christmas series but time ran away with me!

This is honestly so simple and I love the crunch you get from 'stir-frying' the sprouts! I say stir frying loosely because it's more the heat from the pan that cooks them!

- Ingredients -
(Not going to bother with portions! I'm assuming you will know how much to cook depending on the amount of people you're cooking for!)

Chopped Sprouts
Chopped Leeks
Diced Bacon (Turkey bacon would be amaze!)
Non-Stick 0 Cal Cooking Spray (Like PAM)
Add some Cayenne Pepper for an extra kick if you like things spicy!

- Method -
Spray a wok or large frying pan with your cooking spray and allow to get really hot!

Toss in all three ingredients until cooked! (The Sprouts will probably take the longest)

Serve!!

We usually serve in a huge bowl in the middle of the table - it's a nice little touch!

I just think this is a really different way to cooking sprouts! Better than roasting/steaming/boiling no?

Let me know if you give it a try! Send pictures! *Hint: I am OBSESSED with Instagram ;) Follow me - georgieedwards27 xxx *
