It's Thirsty Thursday everybody! You know what that means; lots and lots of water to be drunk! I've slacked a little today I'll be honest but I haven't drunk a lot full stop! I'm going to make up for it tomorrow though I promise!!


So to honour Thirsty Thursday here are 10 facts about water that everyone should be interested to know - I was!



  1. While the daily recommended amount of water is eight cups per day, not all of this water must be consumed in the liquid form. Nearly every food or drink item provides some water to the body.
  2. Of all the water on the earth, humans can used only about three tenths of a percent of this water. Such usable water is found in groundwater aquifers, rivers, and freshwater lakes.
  3. The weight a person loses directly after intense physical activity is weight from water, not fat.
  4. The average person in the United States uses 80 to 100 gallons of water each day. During medieval times a person used only 5 gallons per day.
  5. It takes about 1 gallon of water to process a quarter pound of hamburger
  6. It takes 2 gallons to brush your teeth, 2 to 7 gallons to flush a toilet, and 25 to 50 gallons to take a shower
  7. Water is the only substance that is found naturally on earth in three forms: liquid, gas, solid
  8. Over 90% of the world's supply of fresh water is located in Antarctica
  9. The total amount of water in the body of an average adult is 37 litres
  10. A small drip from a faucet can waste as much as 75 litres of water a day
