End of Summer Blues

As much as I hate to say it.. it's here. I go back to college on Thursday - it's finally the end of summer. I can't put it off anymore; I've done all my back-to-college work, gotten my timetable, sorted out my bag and all my folders (almost!), so it's time to say goodbye to what's been a truly incredible Summer.

Torre Lapillo Beach in Puglia, Italy

This summer I've been incredibly blessed, I got to create amazing memories with my friends, take a great vacation with my family (that picture was taken by me! Impressive huh!) and best of all, what's made this summer is the progress I've made with my Tone It Up journey, and the love and support I've felt from my Tone It Up family.

As this is the blog to document my fitness journey, I'm going to keep this post about that, but if you'd like to hear more about anything else I've done this summer please feel free to email me (georgie.toningup@gmail.com)

At the beginning of summer, when I broke up from college, I weighed about 160lbs. As of last week (30/8/2011) I weigh 156. Something I'm thrilled about considering I've been on two vacations and eaten out a lot! And even then, losing weight for me isn't easy - it tends to take a long time for me to lose that amount so I'm so happy!

I also was lacking in my workouts. I was doing them, but not hard enough, and not often enough. I cannot stress enough that "Change is Uncomfortable!" Since I've been saying that to myself over and over, I'm more dedicated in the gym, I will do that extra 5 minutes that I really don't want to run, I will concentrate more whilst doing my strength because I want to see the change and I AM!

As well as this, I RAN 5K THIS SUMMER!! Well I actually ran about 25k when you add them all up! I honestly can't even begin to describe to you the joy that I felt when I ran that first 5k. It was such a huge boost to my motivation and my drive. It gave me the confidence to truly commit to my fitness journey and I haven't looked back since. I promise you that if I can run a 5k, it's possible for all of you - it takes hard work but we will get there! I'm finding now, that after a few weeks of running 5k's, I can run 6k with ease. I'm looking out for a race for me to enter!

My diet has also got a WHOLE lot better! I've cut out bad snacks and honestly I don't miss them! I don't find myself craving sweets or chocolate at all! If I'm craving something sweet I'll have some natural yogurt or some fruit. If I am starving I'll snack on salt free rice cakes.

I don't want to ramble on so I've kept it quite brief but the support that you all have given me this summer has made the difference. It honestly has. I love waking up to your tweets and emails every morning; it gives me the drive and commitment to get up and do something that day - to make a difference and see the change. It's you guys that are incredible!!

Thank you for everything - you rock! This Fall Challenge is going to be great because you're all doing it with me! We are going to ROCK it!

I'm going to leave you with a picture that you may have seen on Twitter - but for now - it's my inspiration.

Share, Love, Inspire, Sweat ♥
