HIIT Workout! Bikes at the Gym!

Sorry about the Crappy iPod picture!

So at the gym this week, after completing my Detention Workout (click the words if you want to try it out!), I didn't have a lot of time as I had to get home to meet a friend so I decided a HIIT workout (High Intensity Interval Training) would be the best thing for me; the best way to speed up my metabolism for the rest of the day.

However being slightly weary of HIIT on treadmills (especially the time it takes for it to get up to speed) I decided to do a workout I'd made up on the bikes a few months ago. You can do it on any bike at your gym and I'm sure it would even work if you were to ride an actual bike along the sidewalk (or something similar)!! So the routine goes like this;

01-44 seconds of every minute: recover
45-00 seconds of every minute: all out.

So you'd start and until the clock hit the 45 second mark you'd be keeping it going but nothing strenuous and then for the last 15 seconds of every minute you pedal like there's no tomorrow! Then you can do anything from 6-12 reps!

For this routine I usually set the resistance to about 7 so when I am recovering it's still somewhat of a workout!

Enjoy!
