Overcoming Injury

I woke up this morning and to my delight my ongoing back problem had flared up. It's hereditory, there's nothing I can do about it. Every now and again I wake up and I cant turn (like an oblique twist kind of turn) more than 45 degrees to the left. It's excruciating. I cant sit down comfortably, I can't drive properly. All in all it's just an annoyance. As you know, I'm in the middle of a twice a day workout series to get bikini ready and I'm not prepared to stop just because of something as stupid as this.

However one thing I absolutely will not do is put my body in jeopardy of permenant or further injury.

There are many steps you can take to prevent and overcome such an injury. Never fear - Georgie is here!
Are you a member of a gym? If the answer is yes then it is certain that there will be trainers/fitness professionals there to help you. Provided that they're not with a client they will be more than willing to help you and give you advice on what to do, how to work efficiently but within the limits of your injury. These people are trained to deal with things like this. Make use of them. They're there for you. Some may even give you a free session - it's happened to me before. Be opportunistic - it pays off!

Stretch. Stretching after and before a workout can prevent the chances of you getting an injury to begin with. This goes hand in hand with warming up and cooling down. Do not skip these steps! A 3 minute walk after a  run can allow your muscles to recover and prevent the 'sore' feeling the next day. Yes some pain is good - but there is a limit. Do your body a favour and don't cross it. Tone It Up has a great Stretch and Release workout that I've added to my daily routine before bed. It's helped improve my flexibility as well as reduce the frequency of my back problem.

SEE A DOCTOR! These guys are the ones who will help you the most. If the pain is really really bad they can give you something to help, they can advise, prescribe and fix! They can refer you  to a specialist, tell you specifically what the problem is and tell you what it is you need to do to get your body in opportune condition and how to repair! Listen. Adopt. Learn.

I'm listening to my body and not working out this evening. I need the time to allow the inflammation to go down. However I am eating clean and as I said. I will not give up. Injury will not stop me,

Be Strong.
