I got a phone call on Monday from work telling me that to raise money for our charity we were all required to wear a yellow shirt to work today; Friday. I don't own anything yellow and it washes me out so I asked around and nobody I know owns any yellow either! I called one of my supervisors back and told her what the situation was and she said and I quote; "That's fine, it's a dress down day so just wear something spring-like". That was fine as I have lots of flowery tops so I was sorted. It was the "dress down" part that threw me. When it was just 'yellow-top-day' that meant wearing my work trousers. Dress down means wearing something smart-casual which is my most hated word phrase.
I decided on a really dark pair of jeans; I thought that fitted the bill. I strolled into work happy to be out of uniform and lo and behold; the rest of the team is wearing a yellow top with their work trousers. 'Yipeee(!)' I thought. I couldn't go out on the shop floor in my jeans so I had to root through the 'spares' cupboard to find an old employee's uniform. The only pair of trousers in there was a UK size 16 (US 14). A 16 long as well. I'm 5ft5; no bueno!
I had to put them on, I had no other choice. I rolled up the bottoms and I was off on a four hour shift.
The reason for this blog post is this;
It was not too long ago, probably this time last year that those trousers would have been a little bit tight on me. Ok, not a little, a lot. At my heaviest I easily reached a UK size 18, but yet convinced myself I was a UK 14. Today I am a 12.
This picture was taken today. These are how big the trousers are (notice they're up by my waist too as I'm so small haha).
I am so proud of myself. I am achieving what I thought was impossible. I never thought I could look like I do and make by body change how it is changing.
"Be the change you want to see"
Not only that I noticed that when I took these pictures (6pm) my stomach was still relatively flat. I have wanted that to happen almost my entire life. I'm almost there.
If I can do it - anybody reading this can too. Start today - don't wait for the excuses to catch up with you. You are unstoppable. You are the change. Be yourself, work hard, get results.
I did it. I'm doing it. It's a lifestyle. It's a choice. Make the right one :)
