It's almost over! I can't believe it! I'm going to be at a loss after the Olympics!
I realised that I've been rather negligent with my medal ceremonies so with today's post is the chance to win a prize!!
One of my favourite athletes in the games is competing today, in the men's 10m platform diving preliminaries.
Tom Daley is one of my favourite athletes because of his inspiring story. The first I heard of him was just before the Beijing 2008 games as he burst into UK headlines as being the youngest Olympian ever at just 14 years old. He didnt medal but it was his dedication to the sport that I loved, not to mention he's hot ;)
He then came first in the world championships one or two years later. At the following press conference, his father Rob Daley got hold of a microphone and asked Tom to "come and give his dad a hug,". Tom was mortified as any teenage boy would have been but it's this moment that I love.
Last year, Tom lost his father to cancer London 2012 is one of the first times Tom is competing internationally without his Dad in the audience.
In the UK, the news has been filled with how these games were both Tom's dream and his father's and this is why I love Tom. In face of adversity he has shone, as have so many other athletes; I am truly humbled.
18 year old Tom is diving today and (upon qualification) tomorrow in the 10m Platform Diving
Your challenge today is to tell me about one of the athletes that has inspired you and is one of your favourites. A prize will be awarded so make them good!!
Love and hugs x
