MY LIFE | Things To Look Forward To At Home

My Local Beach

The time has come!! This time next week I will be back in the UK! It seems so hard for me to believe that this journey is so nearly over. There are no words to describe just how incredible my study abroad year has been. More on that to come, but for today I'm rounding up the things I am most looking forward to at home.

My Family

I am so so so SO excited to be with my family again. We are all so close and tight knit that the hardest part of this whole year has been being away from them. My sister is my closest friend and I miss our chats, I miss my Mum's words of wisdom and my Dad making me laugh. I miss seeing my grandparents for coffee! I also really miss my boyfriend's family and consider them my own. I miss our time together and being around his nieces and nephews, which is also so much fun! There has also been a new baby in the family since I came back to Arizona after Christmas so I'm very excited to meet her!

Mum's Cooking

Nothing ever compares to home cooking does it!? I'm really excited to have Mum's food again and not have to worry about cooking and cleaning it all up every single night! I don't know how she does it!

Being by the Sea!

I'm from a seaside town in the south of England and I have really missed the ocean breeze here in the desert. I never thought that would be the case as I don't go down to the beach too often but I really do!

Driving

Not being able to drive in the US has been the thing that has limited this experience for me the most. I feel like I would have been able to see so much more if I had access to a car. But even simple things like going to get groceries has been an ordeal, an inconvenience to someone else or really expensive since being here. I definitely miss the freedom that having a car provides.

Home Comforts

My bed in Arizona has been fine, but it's not my bed ;)
Living in an apartment building has also never felt much like home so I'm very excited to get back to what I know and familiar surroundings.

Places at Home

Be it my favourite coffee shop, store or restaurant. There are things that I don't have here that I have really missed at home and I'm excited to get back to! I'm also really looking forward to getting back in to my gym. I've had serious issues with the gym in my apartment building mainly because it's not my gym at home!

Working!

Visa requirements have meant that I've not been able to work in the US and I have hugely missed that routine and source of income! I've had a job since the moment I left high school so it's been a huge adjustment to not getting up on the weekend to spend all day in a shop. I'm looking forward to having that sense of purpose again.

Not Needing a Power Adapter

It sounds so silly, but I cannot wait to be able to plug electronics in to the wall without needing to find an adapter first. It's the simple things ;)

Having an Electric Over a Stovetop Kettle

Again, another really simple thing but it's so much easier than waiting for water to boil on the stove!

Having a Washing Machine that Cleans Properly

More simplicity but my machine in the apartment here is not good at all. It takes forever, doesn't really clean things and is generally awful. So having a really good one at home is going to be a luxury!

Costa!

I love my Coffee and Costa is a UK Starbucks equivalent and my favourite coffee shop in the whole country, much better than Starbucks in my opinion! I know there's a Costa right at the arrivals gate at my airport so I'm very much looking forward to that after an 11 hour flight!

I will leave it there but I could go on forever! I'm so excited to be back in the UK and back to my life at home. This time next week I will be and that blows my mind! Be sure to keep up with my travel adventures on my Twitter and Instagram :)

Love always,
